General Summary
The Estimator is responsible to work with customers and the project management team, to estimate a project’s materials, labor and services with the goal to win a bid/project and still be profitable. Additionally, an Estimator will work with the project management team after bid award, to produce a successful project that is completed on time, within budget and with the highest quality standards.

Main Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned)
 Attend on-site meetings to fully understand scope of bids/projects
 Review, take off plans/prints and bidding procedures
 Review specs and addendums
 Participate in pre-conference meetings
 Conduct field measurements
 Provide estimates on quantities, labor and materials
 Provide detailed proposals/estimates for customers
 Establish, update and communicate project schedule and timelines
 Billing of jobs
 Pricing of sub-contractors
 Initiate and review change orders and prepare cost estimates
 Complete project closeout process
 Build and maintain positive customer relationships to facilitate construction activities

Secondary Responsibilities:
 Job set up
 Prepare sub-contractor P.O.’s
 Monitor job costs
 Prepare alternative solutions as needed
 Update and re-quote as necessary
 Locates as needed
 Print plans as needed

Educational Requirements:
 Bachelor’s degree in construction management or civil engineering or
 Professional Engineer

Professional Experience:
 3-5 years in asphalt paving (Heavy Highway Construction), sales, project management and concrete
 Experience with Heavy Bid Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
 Solid knowledge of INDOT specifications
 Solid knowledge of various municipality specifications
 Knowledge of how to perform/conduct locates
 Strong construction safety knowledge
 Solid heavy highway construction equipment knowledge
 Solid heavy highway/concrete construction project flow knowledge
 Must be organized, accurate, detailed, able to problem solve and self motivated
 Strong P.C., Microsoft Office, written, math and verbal skills is necessary
 Ability to thrive in high pressure situations
 Strong knowledge of budgeting/cost control and presentation skills of such Physical Requirements:
 Must be able to use eyes, hands, arms, fingers, sit, stand, walk, stoop, carry up to 50 lbs., use stairs, drive a motorized vehicle, and work in indoor (office) and outdoor (field) environments that may be cold, hot and have dust and fumes as normal per paving operations.
